Subcutaneous

See also SC. A dangerous acronym which should not be used because 'q' can be misinterpreted as 'every (e.g. 'heparin sub q 2 hours before surgery' misunderstood as every 2 hours before surgery).

Subcutaneous means under the Skin. Injection of medication just under the skin, in the subcutaneous space and not into the muscle. Sometimes written s.q.
