Mean Cell Volume

Also known as Mean Corpuscular Volume. Average volume of red blood cells (erythrocytes), expressed in cubic micrometers (µm³) or femtoliters. This is the average RBC size. For example, hematocrit is measured by multiplying the red cell number (in millions/mm³) by the MCV (in femtoliters). See also MCH and MCHC.
